- Categories of Technical Drawing. Kinds of Mechanical Drawing, sketching-, normal- and three-dimensional drawings.
- Regulations and Standards in Mechanical Drawing.
- Fundamental Knowledge of Mechanical Drawing. Standardization of drawing lines, scales and dimensioning.
- Representation of orthogonal projection views of mechanical parts in drawing. Rules of drawing orthogonal projection views.
- Representation of simple- and complex section views of mechanical parts in drawing. Rules of drawing of section views. Representation of Screw and Threads in drawing.
- Representation of orthogonal projection- and cutting views of mechanical parts in detail by using computer aided design program (Auto CAD). Architecture and commands used in Auto CAD drawing software.
- Introduction to electrical- and electronic drawings. Standards and symbols used for representing components in electrical-, electronic- and industrial automation drawings.

The course aims to provide undergraduate students with the fundamental knowledge, in order to be able to draw projection views of mechanical components and to analyze and design low-voltage internal electrical installations in residences, as well as basic industrial automation circuits, which are used to control motor operation. Mechanical Drawing covers the basics of technical drawing, the relevant regulations and standards and the necessary information for obtaining orthogonal projection views as well as cutting views of mechanical parts. The laboratory exercises of mechanical drawings are carried out by using a computer aided design program. Electrical Drawing covers the basic wirings drawings concerning internal electrical installations by using standard symbols for electrical components. It presents the kinds of electrical drawings and focuses in the design of internal electrical installations in residences. It also covers basic motor control automation circuits. Finally, it offers the necessary information for drawing a typical medium-to-low voltage substation of an industrial consumer.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Know the relevant regulations and standards concerning the Mechanical Drawing,
- make the sketch of basic orthogonal projecting views of simple mechanical parts,
- draw in detail the orthogonal projection views and the characteristic cutting views with the necessary dimensions by using a computer aided design technique,
- know the kinds of electrical drawings and the standards symbols used for electrical components,
- design polyline-, single-line- and operational drawings used in internal building electrical installations.
- calculate power, voltage drop, current and conductor cross section of branch circuits in low-voltage electrical installations in buildings,
- design the complete single-line drawings of branch circuits on floor plan as well as the single-line drawings of electrical installations switchboards,
- design low-voltage, low-current circuits drawings of electrical installations in residences,
- study and design low-voltage low-power internal electrical installations in residences,
- design basic industrial automation circuits to control electrical motor operation,
- implement the electrical drawing of a typical medium-to-low voltage substation of an industrial consumer.
