  • Dominating sets-based broadcasting for ad hoc networks

  • Routing for wireless sensor networks
  • Coverage and connectivity for wireless sensor networks

The course investigates basic concepts and problems related to data management in mobile computing environments. It focuses on terrestrial wireless networks.

  • Cellular Networks (e.g., GSM)
  • Ad Hoc Networks
  • Wireless Sensor Networks

The students taking this course will:

  • Know basic topics on Cellular Networks (e.g., GSM), Ad Hoc Networks, and Wireless Sensor Networks
  • Be exposed to architectures for distributed processing in mobile environments (pull/push approaches, proxies, etc.)
  • Understand the combination of Internet technologies and mobile computing
  • Familiarize themselves with distributed (localised) algorithms such as clustering, dissemination, aggregation, data-centric networking, topology control, indexing
