Elias N. Houstis is Emeritus Professor at the University of Thessaly, Greece, and Purdue University, USA. In Greece, he served as Professor and held the Chair of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics at the University of Patras. He has also served in several major administrative positions in Greece, including President of the Center for Research and Technology Thessaly (CERETETH), Director of the Institute for Research and Technology Thessaly (IETETH), and President of the Technology Park of Thessaly. A significant part of his academic and research career has been associated with the Department of Computer Sciences at Purdue University and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Thessaly. He served in senior administrative positions at both institutions and founded and directed the Computational Science and Engineering Program at Purdue University for several years. Professor Houstis has participated in numerous national, American, and European research projects in the areas of Information Technologies and Computational Science. He is a member of the IFIP Working Group 2.5. He has authored books and numerous scientific publications, organized international conferences, and supervised Ph.D. and M.S. students in the fields of Problem-Solving Environments, Computational Science, High-Performance Computing, and Financial Engineering.
