Dimitrios Katsaros

Dimitrios Katsaros was born in 1974. He received his BSc and PhD degrees, both from the Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1997 and 2004, respectively. He spent a year (July 1997-June 1998) as a visiting researcher at the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics at the University of L’Aquila, Italy. After receiving his PhD, he earned a "PYTHAGORAS" research grant (2005-2007) at the Aristotle university for conducting postdoctoral research in the synergy between social network analysis and wireless ad hoc networks. During the spring semester of 2015, he was a visiting fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Yale university, affiliated also with the Yale Institute for Network Science (YINS). During the summer of 2017 he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Yale university, affiliated also with the Yale Institute for Network Science (YINS). During the spring semester of 2019, he was a visiting fellow in the KIOS Center of Excellence, Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Cyprus. During the Fall semester of 2022,  he was on sabbatical leave of absence, cooperating with the Department of Computer Science of the Carnegie Mellon University@Doha (Qatar).

He serves as Editorial Board member for the journals ACM/Springer Wireless Networks, and Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences. He served as Associate Editor for IEEE Access, as Special Track Editor for IEEE Internet Computing for «drone-delivered computing και services» topics, and as Editorial Board member for Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (Wiley/Hindawi); he co-guest edited special issues on “Cloud Computing” in IEEE Internet Computing and IEEE Network magazines. He translated the famous "Network Science" book by A.-L. Barabsi into the greek language ("Επιστήμη Δικτύων", New Technologies, publisher, Sept. 2022). He served as publication advisor in the translation of the award winning book “Google’s PageRank and Beyond: The Science of Search Engine Rankings” into the greek language ("Η  Μέθοδος PageRank της Google και άλλα Συστήματα Κατάταξης", Crete University Press, Oct. 2010). He co-developed the popular scientometric index called contemporary h-index. His research interests lie in the area of distributed systems, including (IoT/adhoc/vehicular/sensor) networked systems, cloud computing, network science, and machine intelligence and neurocomputation. He has (co-)authored more than 200 articles in journals, conferences and book chapters. His articles have received more than 6500 citations (http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=RsQ_ai4AAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao). He regularly acts as reviewer in premium quality journals, and Technical Program Committee (TPC) member in prestigious conferences. He is regularly involved in the organization of international conferences/workshops under various roles (e.g., PC co-chair, treasurer, publication co-chair, special issues co-chair, workshops co-chair, etc).
