E.N. Houstis is currently a full Professor of Computer Engineering and Communications department at University of Thessaly. Most of his academic career is associated with Purdue University. He has been a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Computational Science & Engineering Program of Purdue University. He has served as acting and associate Head of the Department of Computer Sciences for several years. He participated in several ESPRIT European projects in the area of information technologies. The most recent ones are VHF (An environment for a virtual hypermedia factory) and NANOS (Effective integration of fine-grain parallelism exploitation and multiprogramming). Houstis is a member of several research group in USA and Japan including ICER – The Indiana consortium for e-commerce research, NSF- Agent based modeling framework for scalable interdependent markets and organizations, Japan – NSF – Global grid computing and environments for science and technology, ICER- Indiana consortium on telemedicine. Houstis is in the editorial board of several journals. Houstis” current research interests are in the areas of portals, networking computing, enterprise systems, computational intelligence, computational finance, e-business, and e-learning. He has published several books and over 140 technical articles. He has participated in the organization of 10 conferences. He has supervised 19 Ph.D. students and tens of MS students. His research has been supported by the NSF, AFOSR, ARO, DARPA, DOE, ESPRIT, INTEL, IBM, AT&T, Kozo-Japan, Purdue University, Greek Research Foundation.
