    This course presents topics from the area of Wireless communications and networking. The following topics will be covered. Introduction to wireless networks, overview of previous wireless systems. 2G and 3G Wireless Systems. Wireless Ad-hoc networks, Sensor networks. IEEE Standards. Fundamentals of wireless propagation: free space propagation, Fading, multi-path, Statistical channel modeling. Interference. Transmission Power control in wireless networks. Power control algorithms, properties, distributed algorithms. Cellular systems: Frequency Allocation, practical wireless network design. Channel Allocation in wireless networks: Static / Dynamic Channel Allocation, Performance Limits, Traffic Engineering issues. Multiple Access Methods (Time / Frequency / Code) Division Multiple Access. Basics of CDMA, analysis, Spread Spectrum techniques, Frequency Hopping. Overview of Scheduling in wireless networks. Advanced Topics: Cross-layer design of wireless networks.
