  • Description
  • Learning Outcomes

Multiagent systems draw upon research and technology from diverse areas, mainly Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Systems, and Economics (Game Theory). The aim of this course is to present key concepts and the main architectures that can be used for the development of multiagent systems, and to examine interesting aspects of the interaction among agents, such as communication, negotiation and coordination.

Upon completion of the course students:

  • Know the fundamental concepts of intelligent agents and multiagent systems, and their relations to Artificial intelligence, Distributed Systems, Philosophical views about cognition and action, social science, psychology, linguistics and economics.
  • Analyse the basic architectures that are employed for the development of agent systems (Deductive reasoning and practical reasoning agents).
  • Analyse multiagent interaction by applying game theoretic concepts.
  • Apply the main mechanisms that support multiagent negotiation – auctions, task and resource allocation negotiation, logical argumentation.
  • Analyse multiagent communication in terms of speech act theory.
