  • a short study in applications: Active DBs, Multimedia DBs, Spatial DBs-GIS

This course aims to further study database management issues such as development and advanced DB technologies. More specifically, the focus is in deepening and widening into physical data organization, query improvement, concurrent transactions, recovery and security matters. Moreover, the course will be engaged in the study of other than relational DBMSs, such as object and object-relational DBMSs, the study of suitable programming languages and techniques, the manipulation of and programming with semi-structured data, and the study of web database programming techniques.
